BioN helps your farm use the Nitrogen you already own. Its biology works with your soil to pull nitrogen from the air and turn it into steady, usable nutrition for pasture, crops, and orchards. It starts working straight away, delivers consistently, costs less than urea, and doesn’t count toward your N Cap. A simple shift, real gains.

We Deliver Real Results for Kiwi Farms

What Makes BioN Different

A smarter alternative to urea

BioN delivers steady, plant-ready nitrogen at a lower cost, without counting toward your N Cap.

Using advanced microbial technology (EL-I Tech™, developed by South African soil biologist Gerhard Vermaak), Bio N harnesses living microbes that capture nitrogen directly from the air — fixing up to 80 kg N/ha over just 8 weeks.

Naturally fixes nitrogen from the atmosphere

Delivers equal or better results than urea

Nitrogen that costs less than urea

A nitrogen source that sits outside your N Cap

100g / Ha of BioN delivers 10,000 active bacteria per square centimetre

Proven Performance

Trial results are in — BioN matches or outperforms synthetic fertilisers, with healthier, more resilient crops across diverse conditions. Farmers are already reporting:

Improved growth across paddocks

Higher dry matter percentage

Synthetic Nitrogen fertilisers replaced with BioN

“Visually, Where BioN is applied on paddocks, I found the pasture cover was very uniform.”

Why choose BioN

We know New Zealand farmers need reliable results, not empty promises. That’s why BioN delivers a smarter, science-backed way to grow stronger crops – using nature’s own nitrogen to power sustainable, profitable farming.

Trusted Biological Innovation

Developed by soil biologist Gerhard Vermaak, BioN is backed by field research and proven performance across global farming systems. It’s the next evolution in nitrogen management for New Zealand agriculture.

Natural Nitrogen Fixation

Why buy Nitrogen when 78% of the air above you already is? BioN’s patened combination of microbes convert atmospheric Nitrogen into a plant-available form — naturally feeding your soil and supporting consistent, healthy growth without relying on synthetic fertilisers.

Equal or Better Results Than Urea

Field trials show BioN delivers growth and yield comparable to (or better than) synthetic Nitrogen. That means less input, lower costs, and increased yields.

Sustainable Farming Made Simple

With BioN, sustainability doesn’t require compromise. Each application helps restore your soil’s natural balance, reduce fertiliser run-off, and cut your carbon footprint — all while maintaining productivity and profitability.

Simple to Apply. Easy to Integrate

BioN works with standard spray, fertigation, or in-furrow systems — no new equipment needed. Just 100 g/Ha mixed with water delivers results you can see.

FAQ

BioN introduces living bacteria into your soil that capture Nitrogen from the air above your paddocks.
These microbes convert atmospheric Nitrogen into plant-available forms like ammonium, nitrates and amino acids.

Every paddock already has a huge supply of Nitrogen sitting above it – BioN simply unlocks it and turns it into usable nutrition.

There are no Nitrogen units applied, and the biology continues releasing Nitrogen for around 8–10 weeks after application.

Yes. Across our New Zealand pasture trials, BioN has matched and, in some cases, exceeded the performance delivered by multiple consecutive synthetic Nitrogen (urea) applications over the same period.

Rather than delivering a short spike, BioN provides a steady supply of plant-available Nitrogen through biological fixation, which has translated into stronger cumulative pasture growth under the same seasonal conditions.

Yes. Because BioN doesn’t apply synthetic Nitrogen, it does not count toward your 190 kg N/ha cap.

That gives farmers more flexibility to:

  • Maintain feed supply
  • Improve compliance margins
  • Spread Nitrogen inputs more effectively across the season

BioN provides real growth without adding Nitrogen units.

BioN works best when soil biology is active.

The key requirements are:

  • Soil temperature above 12°C
  • Best applied just before or during rainfall or irrigation.
  • Good soil contact

More water = better results.

Yes. Most farmers start by adding BioN alongside their existing programme, replacing several rounds of urea during an 8 – 10 week period to test performance.

BioN fits easily into:

  • Dairy rotations
  • Drystock systems
  • Pasture renovation
  • Cropping (maize, cereals, brassicas, etc)

It’s a flexible tool, not an “all or nothing” replacement.
Our team can help you plan where BioN fits best into your system.

Our New Zealand pasture trials showed BioN delivering stronger total dry matter production than standard urea treatments under the same conditions.

Dry matter percentages were similar across treatments, confirming the difference was genuine biomass rather than moisture.
